This week's mani at Dormify!
This weekend I went with W and his entire family to Harbor Springs, MI. His family has a yearly tradition called Family Fun Day. When the kids were younger, his parents would take them skiing and snowboarding in the northern lower peninsula. So after a few missed years of snow, they decided to pack up the whole family + spouses and significant others (13 people total) and rent a house in Harbor Springs.
We went to Nub's Nob on Friday for a full day (10am - 4:30pm) of skiing or snowboarding. W conned me into snowboarding... so I strapped on and fell down... and fell down again... and fell down again. It was probably one of the most physically straining and trying things I've ever done, but I stuck through multiple spills and falls until about 3pm.
Saturday, we did a little exploring in Petoskey and went out to dinner. Ordering food at restaurants is always a painful struggle for me. I try to be a very simplistic eater, and in trying to be a simple eater I end up being the most high maintenance person at the table. But answer me this: what restaurant doesn't have a house salad?! Or a balsamic dressing?! It blew my mind. And also... what restaurant won't let you get a half order of something? It was just very frustrating and has made me thoroughly rethink my diet... I've given veganism a good try, but I think it might be time to throw in the towel.
All in all it was a very good weekend, and I feel so grateful to be a small part in their large family.
